Thousands of workers do wastewater parameter assessments every day at all wastewater treatment plants. These are pollution indicators that are used to ensure that wastewater complies with local regulations.

What are the industrial WWTP parameters and standards?
In some special instances or for large municipal wastewater treatment plants, special parameters, such as:
• Nitrogen, found in minerals (ammonia, nitrate) and organic forms. Its organic or ammoniacal presence depletes oxygen in the natural environment, causing living conditions to change.
• Ratio such as COD/BOD-5: This ratio identifies the source and origin of organic pollutants. Unpolluted surface water has a BOD-5 concentration of 2 to 20 mg/l. Water pollution is indicated by measures that go beyond that.
