The package sewage treatment plant consists of eight main units for water distribution, reaction, sedimentation, filtration, water collection, mud collection, and automatic backwashing. These units are equipped with PPC slant tube fillers and a variety of refined filtering materials. The device's main shell is made of carbon steel, and both the interior and exterior have been given a special anti-corrosion coating for a long service life, a broad range of applications, and excellence.
Let us learn about some of the operating characteristics of packaged sewage treatment plant in this blog.
What are packaged sewage treatment plants?
The packaged sewage treatment plant can treat wastewater with a turbidity of less than 3000 mg/L, effluent with a turbidity of not less than 3 mg/L, disinfect water with chlorination, and meet water standards thanks to its cutting-edge technology, novel design, compact structure, area savings, and ease of operation.
Working principle of packaged sewage treatment plants
The integrated sewage treatment facility includes a water pump, electrical control cabinet, coagulation pool, sedimentation pool, filtration pool, water quality stabilisation dosing system, and backwashing device.
Coagulation
The pipeline static mixer is used in the coagulation pool to automatically combine the coagulant using water power. In order for the suspended matter in the water and the coagulant to thoroughly touch and react, the raw water with coagulant enters the coagulation pool through the inflow pipe, and mixes with the specific coagulant.
Water and coagulant are mixed using an eddy reaction in a general package sewage treatment plant, however, the result is unstable due to changes in water volume. Additionally, there are special mixers that agitate in order to ensure full contact between the coagulant and suspended materials in the water, which produces alum unaffected by variations in water volume.
Sedimentation pond
The water flows to the equipment's sedimentation pond to be precipitated after being coagulated with a coagulant to create alum. The surface load of the sedimentation pond is 7-8 m3/m2.h. The precipitated sludge is discharged into the mud hopper after the trapezoidal inclined plate sedimentation chamber, to finish the solid-liquid separation.
Filtration
The water flows to the filter pond after being sedimented. The filter pond's construction is made up of white coal at the top, quartz sand in the middle, and cloth water pipes at the bottom. After disinfection and drinking, the clear water flows to the clear water tank at a speed of 7–10 m/h, and a flushing intensity of 14–16 l/m2/s.
The filter tank's backwash cycle lasts around 12 hours, and it takes 5–10 minutes. Polystyrene ball and bead filtration is used in the filtration process.
What are the packaged STP Plant operating characteristics?
1: It can adapt to different raw water temperature and turbidity.
2: The removal rate of impurity particles is high.
3: The function of removing algae is good under the condition of adding algaecide.
4: High concentration flocculation layer can make the impurity particles in the raw water get sufficient collision contact between them, and the chance of adsorption increases.
5: A stable impurity particle removal rate is ensured by the quick sludge concentration chamber, and adjustable automatic mud discharge system, which can both guarantee the prompt removal of surplus sludge.
6: Effective flocculation and sedimentation impact, resulting in the preservation of good sedimentation water quality.
7: The most cost-effective water collection head and the novel, unique water collection method makes the water collection more efficient and uniform, which not only raises the volume utilisation factor, but also results in a very compact water collection head.
8: In order to ensure the high efficiency of the water purification system filtration, as well as automatic backwash, without another backwash pump or air compressor and other electrical equipment, and to save a significant amount of infrastructure investment, daily operation, maintenance, repair, maintenance costs, and long service life can be done.
9: The apparatus uses very little water (approximately 3%), which helps to preserve vital resources.
10: With a smaller footprint than typical water purification structures and a height of 4.35 metres, they can be installed both indoors and outdoors.
11: Simple to enlarge, renovate, transport, or reuse.
12: It takes a fifth of the time to build as compared to conventional clarifying and filter plants.
Operation and Safety Measures of Packaged sewage treatment plants
1. Package sewage treatment plants for frozen areas should be built indoors; those for non-frozen areas can be installed outdoors, but top covers must be added to prevent water quality contamination.
2. To ensure that the water is uniform, the installation of the packaged sewage treatment plant will be situated on a flat site. Different pipeline connection gate valves should be excluded and free of air leaks and water seepage.
3. Before using the equipment, clean up any debris in the pool, etc., and pay close attention to the intake and outflow pipes to avoid clogging.
4. Chlorination can be used to reduce chromaticity, eliminate colloid in the water and remove the odour, stop the growth of algae and moss in the pool, among other things, when the water source is seriously polluted and contains more organic material or algae.
5. Half open the inlet valve prior to turning on the equipment. After turning on the pump, use less water at the normally open flow rate and increase the amount of coagulant dosage. When the large inflow valve is opened 60 minutes later, the water volume is increased to the design level, and the coagulant dose is decreased.
6. The backwash gate should be set to a specific strength and the backwash time should be controlled the first time the equipment backwashes, in order to avoid primarily washing out the filter material.
7. The sedimentation tank sludge discharge valve should be routinely opened.
