Overview
Because water is extremely corrosive if not properly cleaned and handled, it is to blame for the great majority of boiler maintenance concerns. Foreign particles can also be carried into the boiler by water, which can accumulate over time and cause substantial damage.
How is scaling caused?
Scaling can be caused by improper water treatment or a failure to apply a treatment plan at all, resulting in irreparable boiler tube damage. Prior to entering the boiler, water should be pumped through a water softener to prevent scaling. Foreign particles such as magnesium, calcium, and other hard minerals are removed by a water softener. These particles adhere to the boiler's inner liner, diminishing heat transfer efficiency, increasing the amount of energy required by your boiler, and triggering problems.
What happens inside a Water Softener?
The chemical reaction occurs within a water softener!
Magnesium, iron, and calcium are ions with a "positive" charge. When positively charged ions interact with negatively charged ions, minerals adhere to the inside wall of the boiler. Scaling is the result of this process.
A water softener uses resin beads to remove positively charged ions from the liquid to avoid scaling. After resting in a brine containing salt and potassium, which are both negatively charged minerals, the beads acquire a negative charge. The positively charged ions are attracted to the negatively charged beads and are scooped up out of the mixture when the liquid travels through the resin tank. This ion exchange can get rid of a lot of the negatively charged ionic particles, making the water softer.
What are technical requirements for Boiler Water Softener equipment?
To soften the source water, the softening apparatus will employ cation resin. The primary goal is for the cation resin to absorb calcium and magnesium ions from the water (the major components that cause scale).
The manual control method can be used depending on the scenario in order to save money. If the water is utilized constantly for 24 hours, alternate regeneration can be chosen based on the water duration, with one serving as a back-up.
In the three stage process, the first stage can be designed with a multi-media filter to remove silt, rust, colloids, and suspended particles in the water; the second stage can be configured with an activated carbon filter to remove pigments, smells, and biochemicals in the water, depending on the water quality requirements and in the third stage, organic matter reduces residual chlorine and pesticide contamination in water.
Various tank combinations, such as single-tank, double-tank, and multi-tank, are used in operation. You can make your selection as per your requirements. Manual operation is available with Netsol in addition to the automatic operating feature during operation.

Conclusion
Automatic water softeners can be used in steam boilers, hot water boilers, exchangers, evaporative condensers, air conditioners, direct combustion engines, and other systems to soften make-up water. It may also be used for the treatment of softened water in the food, beverage, winery, laundry, printing and dyeing, chemical, pharmaceutical, and other sectors, as well as for the treatment of domestic water in hotels, restaurants, office buildings, flats, and families.
