How many types of water softener available in India?
There are many types of water softener available in India. Some are used in Industrial sector and some are used in residential purpose.
1-Ion exchange softeners
Ion-exchange softeners are widely used in small water systems and individual homes, in addition to industry. One ion from the treated water is exchanged for another ion in the resin by ion-exchange resin (sodium is one component of softening salt, with chlorine being the other). Ion exchange resin exchanges sodium for calcium and magnesium.
The presence of certain metal ions in water causes a variety of problems. These ions interfere with the action of soaps. They also contribute to limescale build-up, which can clog plumbing and lead to galvanic corrosion.
The resin or mineral inside the mineral tank is precisely engineered to remove "hard" particles of lime and calcium using a simple ion exchange mechanism. The electrical charge of the dissolved particles in the entering water differs from that of the resin beads inside the softener tank. Because of the difference in electrical charge, dissolved particles in the water will attach to the resin beads when they come into contact with them, removing them from the water and making it "soft." Because the resin can only hold so many hardness particles, softeners come in a variety of sizes, and regeneration or brining is required.
2-Skid mounted softener
For the military and industry, a skid mount is a highly regarded method of distributing and storing machinery and usually-stationary equipment. Simply put, at the point of manufacture, the machinery is permanently mounted in a frame, on rails, or on a metal Pallet.
