How many Types of Swimming Pool Water Filtration Systems?
The swimming pool is likely one of the most expensive purchases that most homeowners or hotel owners make, second only to the residence itself. A swimming pool can undoubtedly add value, but if not properly maintained, it can quickly become a liability and an eyesore.
As a result, the swimming pool water filtration system is the single most crucial piece of equipment you can install, to ensure that your pool is ready for a swim at any time.
Types of Swimming Pool Water Filtration Plants
Although, there are a few other swimming pool water filtration systems on the market, the high-rate sand filter system and the cartridge filter system are the most widely used.
· Sand Filter System
These are tanks composed of fiberglass, concrete, or metal that contains a thick bed of special-grade sand. The swimming pool's water inlet and exit systems are configured so that used water from the pool, enters through the filter's input pipe, which connects to the water distribution head inside the tank.
Gravity draws the water down through the sand, and the tiny sand particles capture any dirt or debris. The filtered water goes through the pick-up unit at the bottom of the tank, before returning to the swimming pool via the outflow pipe.
As the sand filter becomes clogged with pool detritus, the water flow decreases, requiring you to run it in reverse and discard the wastewater. This is known as backwashing the filter, and after completion, you can repack the sand and use it again.
· Cartridge Filter System
In place of a sand filter, a cartridge filter is most suited for household swimming pools, which are typically smaller in size, and even for above-ground pools.
Cartridge filters are tanks that filter out minute particles of dirt using polyester cartridges. These filters may catch particles as thin as 5 to 10 microns in size, allowing them to filter filth that is invisible to the naked eye.
Dirty water goes through a filter made of polyester cloth or corrugated paper in a cartridge filter, similar to the water filters in our kitchens. When the cartridge becomes clogged, simply remove the filter and hose it down.
Advantages of Swimming Pool Water Filtration Systems
· Swimming pool filtration systems are the most effective at disinfecting pool water, and controlling its pH.
· It is designed to provide consistent performance, maximum efficiency, and little maintenance.
· It is built with high-quality, long-lasting spare parts to assure its longevity.
· To improve filtering efficiency, it includes a multimedia filter, an activated carbon filter, and vacuum cleaners.
Maintenance of Swimming Pool Water Filtration Systems
Maintaining a swimming pool is a difficult undertaking since you can become infected, with skin illnesses if it is not kept clean. To preserve water quality and minimize waterborne skin infections, the water in the swimming pool must be adequately sterilized and filtered at regular intervals.
What will happen if it is not maintained?
The swimming pool is constantly filled with water, and leaves, dust, and debris, among other things, contribute to the pool's colour and odour. Sweat, saliva, hair, and ointments damage the swimming pool filtration plant, providing an ideal habitat for the spread of viruses, germs, and microorganisms.
