What are RO Plants?
RO Plant is a type of water treatment plant that employs reverse osmosis, to remove harmful chemicals and pollutants from water. The reverse osmosis process cleans or desalinates contaminated water producing demineralized and clear water, suitable for a wide range of industrial and commercial applications.
Operation of RO Plants
In reverse osmosis, the natural phenomenon of osmosis is essentially reversed. External pressure is applied to the water with the highest concentration of dissolved ions, causing it to flow in the opposite direction through the semi-permeable membrane. The dissolved ions and suspended solids are left behind.
The water that passes through the semi-permeable membrane is known as permeate, or well-treated product water. Reject, brine, or concentrate water is the water that remains behind the membrane, after the dissolved and suspended particles have been removed.
RO Plant: A changing point in our lives
As India develops over time, several changes have occurred in the last few years. One such change is the proliferation of RO plants, throughout India. They play an important role in a variety of industrial and commercial establishments. These plants have been set up to filter and treat water. As a result, it can be used for drinking as well as different purposes.
Advantages of RO Plants
1. It is simple to set up and keep running.
2. The reverse osmosis method is reliable.
3. Ionic salts, non-ionic, colloidal matter, active and inactive bacteria, and organic materials with a high relative molecular mass, are all removed.
4. The entire system is automated or semi-automated.
5. The water extracted from the plant is safe to drink.

How to maintain commercial RO plants?
- Because, it is self-contained, the RO system requires very little maintenance.
- It cleans itself with minimal human intervention. It only requires daily monitoring from on-site workers, rather than active maintenance.
- This increases productivity while decreasing downtime.
- Replacing the pre-filters is a simple process that takes only a few minutes.
- Depending on the quality and quantity of the input water, the membranes can last two to three years.
