What is STP in hotel industry?
When installing a sewage treatment plant, hospitality and recreational establishments pay close attention to the expectations of their guests and visitors. For many travelers, large hotels are notable. Everyone wants to stay in a safe and clean environment. People always take note of the location of the hotel, as well as the amenities and cleanliness of the hotel. If they discover a hotel with system problems, it will leave a negative impression on tourists. As a result, if hotel sewage is not adequately treated, it will emit a foul odour and have an adverse effect on the environment and humans. As a result, hotels must install sewage treatment plants if they want their ratings to improve among tourists, as well as if they care about human safety and the environment.
Sewage treatment plant for hotels_
A hotel's sewage treatment plant’s principal purpose is to treat wastewater influent so that it does not cause human sickness. Sewage from hotels goes through a few treatment procedures to eliminate the majority of solid and organic contaminants before being properly discharged into waterways. After treatment, the treated water can either be reused for gardening or dumped.

Wastewater/Sewage Treatment in Hotels
The following are the basic treatment procedures in a sewage treatment plant for hotels:
1. Preliminary Treatment: This is the initial step in the wastewater treatment process, and it must be completed before primary treatment. Screening, sedimentation, and skimming are used to remove solids during this stage. Its primary objective is to remove coarse materials from the system. To remove sand and grit, a grit chamber is employed. This treatment also removes a substantial amount of oil and grease. It's critical to keep the treatment process's pumps and other equipment from breaking down.
2. Primary treatment or Physical-chemical treatment:The purpose of primary treatment, also known as physical-chemical treatment, is to remove organic and inorganic particles through sedimentation and flotation. The primary clarifier or sedimentation tanks can transport water that has been partially treated during preliminary treatment. The settled material is called primary sludge, and it will be subjected to the sludge digestion process after that. This treatment removes around 50-60% of suspended particles from the influent and reduces BOD levels by 30-40 percent. The water that has been cleaned moves on to the next stage of treatment.
3. Secondary Treatment: This is a biological treatment method that degrades the organic matter present in the wastewater using the biological aerobic processes known as "Activated Sludge Process." Primary effluent is pumped into aeration tanks and allowed to mix with microorganisms in this procedure. Aerated wastewater now passes through a secondary clarifier, where larger particles and other solids settle to the bottom as secondary sludge. To enhance the activated sludge process and remove as many impurities as possible, some sludge will be returned to the aeration tank. At this point, about 80-90 percent of the organic solids have been removed.
4. Tertiary Treatment:This is the final stage, which involves using physical, chemical, or biological methods to remove any remaining suspended particulates or dissolved solids. Processed wastewater may still include pathogenic bacteria after primary and secondary treatment, necessitating disinfection. The tertiary treatment, also known as disinfection treatment, is an important phase in the treatment because it protects human health.
