What is Reverse osmosis?
Reverse osmosis (RO) is a water purification method that separates ions, undesirable compounds, and bigger particles from drinking water using a partly permeable membrane.
An applied pressure is utilized in reverse osmosis to counteract osmotic pressure, a colligative phenomenon generated by chemical potential differences in the solvent, a thermodynamic parameter. Reverse osmosis can remove a wide range of dissolved and suspended chemical species, as well as biological species (most notably bacteria) from water, and is utilized in both industrial operations and potable water production. As a consequence, the solute is trapped on the pressured side of the membrane while the pure solvent is permitted to flow through.
This membrane must not allow big molecules or ions to pass through the pores (holes) in order to be "selective," but it must enable smaller components of the solution (such as solvent molecules, such as water, H2O) to flow freely.
Does AMC include running cost of RO plants?
The term “AMC” refers to an “annual maintenance contract”.
This is a yearly water purifier maintenance contract. AMC is a contract between the manufacturer and the purifier's owner that specifies the terms and conditions for the purifier's regular repair and maintenance.
RO water purifier's annual maintenance cost starts at around Rs.1000 per year, plus the cost of spare parts, which is additional; or around Rs.3000- per year, including all parts. AMC is included in the running cost of RO plants for sure. If RO plants are not maintained properly, it would lead to failure of RO plants which all of us don’t want.
When purchasing water purifiers in India, the cost of maintenance should be taken into account. In India, there is no such thing as a "maintenance-free water purifier." All water filters require maintenance, which is somewhat costly.
It is simple to maintain water purifiers/plants if you are a Do-it-Yourself (DIY) type of person. More parts on the RO water purifier/plants need to be updated every 4 to 6 months or as per manufacturer’s recommendation. You may get the essential replacement components, namely replacement cartridges, from Netsol Water, as we are best in providing these.
What is covered by the RO water purifier/Plant AMC?
The cost of RO water purifier/plant maintenance includes the replacement of all cartridge parts, such as pre-filter cartridges, post-carbon filter cartridges, and remineralizer cartridges. It is recommended that all cartridges must be replaced once a year.
The RO membrane is the most expensive filter element in the system, costing around RS.2, 500 or more. It should be updated every 3 to 5 years, depending on how often the RO water plant is used.
