First aid for chemical exposure
· Ingestion: Eliminate people from the pollution source. Do not make yourself vomit. Every 2 minutes, give 2 cups of water. Consult a doctor and keep everyone warm and calm.
· Skin contact: Remove the person from the source of contamination and immediately move to the source of water. Remove any clothing, socks, or jewellery from non-affected areas. Consult a physician.
· In the event of eye contact: Immediately rinse eyes with lukewarm water for at least 15 minutes. Keep the eyelids away from the eyeball and instruct the victim, to rotate the eyeball.
· Inhalation: Remove a person from the pollution source. People should be moved to fresh air. If the victim is not breathing, start CPR.
When working with acids, always wear proper gloves, safety shoes, safety masks, goggles, aprons, seat belts, and helmets. Also, make sure your work area has a first-aid kit, a fire extinguisher, and a respirator with a pack bottle.
