How much salt do you think your Water Softener will need?
To begin, ion exchange softeners require salt pellets (sodium chloride or potassium chloride) to soften the hard water entering your home. This salt is stored in a "brine tank," which is located close to (and linked to) your water softener.
The amount of salt you'll need to buy and add each month is determined by the "hardness" of your water and the amount of water your household uses. The average family of four with typical water hardness (approximately 7-10 grains per gallon hardness level) will consume about 9 to 10 pounds of salt per week, or one 40-pound bag of salt per month, according to industrial standards.
Calculating salt for your Water Softeners
The following is an example of a conventional salt calculation:
{Number of people x gallons per person per day x 110 (hardness)}/ (salt exchange efficiency)
To dispel any worrie?s, consider the following scenario:
In one day, 4 x 65 = 260 x 110 = 286, 00 grains produced/day.
286, 00/2000= 14.3 pounds per day.
At 7.15 pounds per day, 90 days equals 1,287 pounds.
In the preceding example,
-4 is the number of individuals in a family or the number of people that will be using the common water softener,
-In gallons, 65 is the quantity of water utilized per person each day.
-110 is the hardness of water measured in parts per million (ppm), and
-The efficiency of salt exchange is 2,000.
How often do you use a water softener with salt?
It's not difficult to keep a water softener in good working order. Your Water Softener will be in good shape if you check the salt levels once or twice a month.
If you don't see water levels in your brine tank, the salt should be three to four inches above the water level. If you don't see water levels, the salt should be over halfway filled. To keep your salt at an adequate level, you'll probably need to add one whole 40 pound bag of salt to your water softener once a month (on average).
What do we have to offer?
Our salt recommendations are based on broad guidelines. The amount of salt you use will be determined by the hardness of your water (minerals in it) and the volume of water your household uses.
Each month, the average family of four with hard water (7-10 grains per gallon hardness level) will need around one 40-pound bag of salt.
Hardness levels of 10 grains per gallon or above may necessitate the addition of extra salt. According to research, the average family purchases 12 bags of water softener salt each year or one bag per month.
