In order to cleanse groundwater or surface water for use in industrial processes or municipal drinking water applications, Netsol Water manufactures a variety of water purification clarifiers.
Solids Contact Clarifiers are the most popular design for softening, turbidity reduction, metal removal, flocculation, sedimentation, and related functions. However, several designs exist based on the process needs. In some instances, they may also be referred to as flocculating clarifiers or reactor clarifiers.
What is the role of Clarifiers for Solids removal in WWT?
Solids Contact Clarifiers are a crucial stage in the creation of process water that can be used, throughout the facility as a general process or cooling water in large industrial plants, like refineries and petrochemical plants. These are also used in municipal drinking water plants, in place of traditional flocculation and sedimentation basins, to reduce footprint.
Both of these processes involve drawing surface water from a lake or river, which is then chemically treated in the clarifier to settle sediments, remove metals, lessen turbidity, and soften the water. Depending on the water's intended purpose, downstream treatment procedures including membrane filtration, sand/carbon filtration, or disinfection, may be performed.
Process of solid contact clarifiers
Solids reactor or solids contact clarifiers combine the processes of mixing, flocculation, sedimentation, and chemical treatment.Lime softening, colorant removal, magnesium and iron removal, among many more are the uses.
The influent is given a chemical addition. Sludge recycling is accomplished via a mechanical flocculation, which combines the treated influent with previously settled precipitates from the tank bottom. After that, flow exits the centre downhill and spreads outward to the clarifying zone, where the flocculated particles settle.
The sludge pump discards some of the settled particulate in order to keep the flow stable, before the particulate is swept inwards to be re-circulated.The radial outlet launders are where the clean water effluent exits.
Clarifiers for coagulating and flocculating
In order to accomplish the process goals, certain flocculating clarifiers may integrate a number of mechanical mixers in the feed water, rather than the very large and typical types of solids contact clarifiers.
These clarifiers offer effective mechanical flocculation and feature a larger feed-water. Combining this with the addition of chemical flocculating agents is possible. Sinking matter will be raked off the tank bottom, while floating stuff will be skimmed off the surface.
